This privacy policy aims to inform you of the FRQ’s practices in regards to the protection of personal information provided when using the address.

The FRQ are solidarily responsible for the Scientifique en chef’s website, unless a situation specifically concerns only one of the Fonds de recherche.

Scope of this Policy

This policy applies only to the Scientifique en chef’s website. It complies with the requirements of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, CQLR, c. A-2.1 (Access Act) and any other applicable law.


The FRQ use cutting-edge security technology to prevent loss or unauthorized use of your personal information under the FRQ’s control. In addition, the FRQ’s servers are protected by firewalls. However, no security technology is perfect, and there is always a slight risk that the personal information you provide could be divulged without your consent and through no fault of the FRQ. The FRQ cannot be held responsible for disclosure of your confidential information.

Automatic Data Transmission

When you access the Scientifique en chef’s website, your computer and the website’s server automatically exchange information. This automatic communication is necessary for the server to send files that are compatible with the type of computer equipment you use. The following information is transmitted:

  • the domain name of your Internet service provider

Collection of Personal Information

As you browse our website, the FRQ do not automatically collect personal information about you without your consent (with the exception of that mentioned in the Automatic Data Transmission section above). The FRQ obtain this type of information only when supplied by you, for example, in an e-mail or by filling out an on-line form.

If you voluntarily communicate personal information to the FRQ, by e-mail, e-form or any other means, the FRQ will use only information needed to reply to your message or to process your request in accordance with the FRQ mission.

E-mail is treated with the same confidentiality rules as for regular mail. We would like to remind you of the inherent risks of using email to communicate information of a personal nature. However, if you do choose to send personal information by e-mail, then you consent to the FRQ replying by email.

In accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, CQLR, c. A-2.1 (Access Act), if the FRQ request personal information from you, you will be informed of:

  • the name and address of the concerned Fonds de recherche
  • the purposes for which the information is being collected
  • the categories of persons who will have access to the information
  • whether a reply is obligatory or optional
  • the consequences in the case of a refusal to reply
  • the rights of access and correction provided by the Access Act

List of contacts for communication purpose

The FRQ maintain a list of contacts for the purpose of keeping its subscribers informed about the latest news from the FRQ and their partners (funding opportunities, press releases, invitations, etc.)

By completing the subscription form to receive news from the FRQ, you accept that one or the other of the Fonds de recherche, or all three FRQ, store this information and use it to provide you with information using different communication media (E-mail, mail, etc.) in accordance with its mandate of communication with the scientific community and research knowledge mobilization. The nature of the information sent to you will vary according to the communication options you select in the form. Details are provided in the form for each communication category.

You also accept that your name and your answers to this questionnaire be shared between the three FRQ (Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT), Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) and Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC)). Each Fonds de recherche may use this information to contact you under the same conditions as cited above.

This information will be accessible to persons under the employment of or contract to the FRQS, FRQNT and the FRQSC, when they are tasked with transmitting information on behalf of one of the Fonds de recherche.

You are under no obligation to complete the subscription form or to appear on our mailing list. This list is maintained independently from the administrative information concerning applicants and persons receiving funding from any of the Fonds de recherche. Accordingly, you do not need to be subscribed to the mailing list to obtain or hold research funding from the FRQ. However, if you are not on our mailing list, you will not receive information regarding the activities of the FRQ.

You can access your subscription form at any time and correct or update the information you provided in subscribing to our mailing list. You may unsubscribe from this list by deselecting the appropriate boxes in your form.
