Janice L. Bailey appointed scientific director of the FRQNT

Chief Scientist Rémi Quirion and the board of directors of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT) welcome the appointment of Janice L. Bailey as scientific director of the FRQNT. The announcement was made yesterday by the Executive Council of Québec. Janice L. Bailey is a full professor in the Animal Science Department and the associate dean of research of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science at Université Laval.

Janice L. Bailey completed a PhD in animal reproduction at the University of Guelph (1992) and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (1994). As a researcher, she is affiliated with the Centre for Research in Reproduction, Development and Intergenerational Health at Université Laval, as well as the Réseau québécois en reproduction—one of the 33 strategic clusters supported by the FRQNT. She has focused her research on the influence of the environment, specifically exposure to toxic substances and nutrition, on reproductive capacities and functions over generations.

"Janice has excellent knowledge of the research community in natural science and reproductive biology in particular. She is very familiar with the FRQNT, as well as several research funding agencies in Canada and around the world. Active on social media, she is among the new generation of researchers who are working to build bridges to better connect with user groups. The Fonds de recherche du Québec, and especially the FRQNT, will most certainly benefit from her drive and vision," affirmed Rémi Quirion. The board of directors and staff of the FRQNT wish her every success in her new role.

Janice L. Bailey takes office on March 11, 2019.
