On June 15, Cabinet renewed Rémi Quirion’s term as chief scientist of Québec for five years so that he may pursue his mandate. He was also assigned the following responsibilities:
- He will sit as a member of the Advisory Panel for the Review of Federal Support for Fundamental Science, which was created at the request of the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science. Chaired by Dr. David Naylor, the expert group will provide advice and recommendations to the minister on means to enhance the federal government’s scientific programs and initiatives. ;
- He will chair the international scientific assessment committee of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (France);
- He will serve as a member of the board of directors of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
