The Oncopole becomes the FRQS cancer hub

The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) has announced that, as of June 30, 2021, the activities of the Oncopole—a research, development and investment hub to give impetus to cancer research in Québec—will become part of the FRQS programs.

The reorganization is part of a broader vision to streamline and simplify the range of cancer research programs. The new structure will consolidate cancer activities within the FRQS and ensure better alignment with other groups dedicated to oncology research.

I would like to sincerely thank Renaldo Battista for all he accomplished at the helm of the Oncopole over the past two years. He guided its development and implementation in Québec’s oncology research landscape and helped create new partnerships with the public and private sectors.”
Rémi Quirion, Chief Scientist of Québec and first leader of the Fonds de recherche du Québec

“Integrating the activities of the Oncopole into the FRQS is the opportunity to build on the hub’s successes and pursue our efforts to further catalyze the research continuum, from basic to applied initiatives, for the benefit of cancer patients.”
Carole Jabet, Scientific Director of the FRQS
