Academic success of vocational students

For over 10 years, individual and team research projects have been developed through collaboration with practice settings, demonstrating the vitality of vocational training among both academics and practitioners. However, the production of knowledge relating to persistence and academic success among vocational students remains marginal in the research community. This lack has led researchers from Université de Sherbrooke, Université de Québec à Montréal and Université de Québec en Outaouais to pool their expertise and work with vocational training stakeholders to develop and support research on academic success in vocational education.

This project deals with the creation and functioning of an emerging research team on vocational training.

With its research programming on "the actors involved in the academic success of vocational students", the objective of the Vocational Training Research Collective (Collectif de Recherche sur la Formation Professionnelle or CRFP) is to understand the dynamics and practices of four groups of actors who influence academic success: students, teachers, schools and businesses.

This report presents descriptive data on the orientations and activities employed by the CRFP over the last three years to meet its initial programming objectives. The first section presents the collective's researchers, international collaborators, student members, and university and school partners. The second section is devoted to CRFP's research directions and presents its current research projects, the publications of its members and the presentations given on each of the different research thrusts. The third section describes the various activities organized by CRFP between 2007 and 2010.

We conclude with some comments on the creation and functioning of this emerging research team on vocational training.
