Carole Jabet appointed scientific director of the FRQS

Chief Scientist Rémi Quirion and the board of directors of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) welcome the appointment of Carole Jabet as scientific director of FRQS, which was announced yesterday by Cabinet. Carole Jabet currently serves as the assistant director of research at the CHUM Research Centre.

Carole Jabet earned a degree in bioengineering from École Centrale de Lyon (1992) and a doctorate in biophysics and molecular biology from École Centrale de Paris (1996) and completed her postdoctoral training at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (1999). Over the course of her career, she has held several positions as an executive and science advisor in the health research sector. From 2003 to 2009, she took on leadership positions at Génome Québec, including the role of vice-president of scientific affairs. She was then named partner at CapCOGITO, a consulting firm. Since November 2018, she has been the assistant director of research at the CHUM Research Centre, after working as the assistant director of operations. She is currently a member of the board of directors of the CATALIS initiative in early clinical research and the College of Reviewers of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

“Carole Jabet has gained in-depth understanding of the health research sector, having held management and strategic consulting positions in various health organizations. She is very familiar with the FRQS and its research areas, our scientific community stakeholders and the platforms and infrastructures that support them. The Fonds de recherche du Québec and FRQS in particular will most certainly benefit from her experience and ideas,” affirmed Rémi Quirion. The board of directors and staff of the FRQS wish her every success in her new role.

Carole Jabet takes office on August 12, 2019.
