Consultation publique en matière de conduite responsable en recherche

Members of the research community,

The three Fonds de recherche du Québec are drawing up a common policy for the responsible conduct in research. This policy will unite and advance the efforts made by each Fonds with respect to the promotion of responsible research conduct, and will support and strengthen initiatives already taken by researchers and research communities. In addition, the policy is in line with the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research policy adopted by the three federal granting agencies in 2011. With the recent development of a Québec national research and innovation policy (PNRI) providing support for ethical research, this appears to be an opportune time to address issues relating to responsible research conduct.

We would like this process to reflect the great confidence we place in our researchers, research students and research entities. This confidence is the starting point for discussions on responsible conduct in research and is an integral part of the approach to research ethics and scientific integrity adopted by the Fonds. We want to work with you in developing the new policy.

In sharing your vision of responsible conduct in research with us, you will be contributing to the creation of a policy intended for you, the research community, and which we hope will be closely tied to your research environment. This is why I invite you to consult the information document to learn more about the context and development of the policy and its objectives. Those of you who wish to take part in the public consultation will then have until January 22, 2014 to send us your comments on the proposed guidelines by one of the following methods:

(Please note that you are not required to answer all of the survey questions. You can also begin the survey and return to it at a later time, provided you do so on the same computer.)

Rest assured that all survey data will be treated in accordance with the Act respecting the Protection of Personal Information and other acts concerning the protection of privacy. The survey data will be analysed in such a way as to present aggregated results only. No comment or answer will be associated with you or your institution.

Thank you in advance for your valuable participation,

Rémi Quirion, O.C., C.Q., PhD, f.r.s.c.
Chief Scientist of Québec
