COVID-19 crisis: creation of an FRQ-MEI-MSSS working group to coordinate proposals from the scientific community

Members of the scientific community,

The COVID-19 pandemic is leading many organizations, research centres and teams, researchers and students to be creative in seeking solutions to this global crisis. Ideas for research and innovation initiatives are circulating on the networks. This mobilization to rise to the challenge of COVID-19 is a testament to the vitality of our scientific community. However, it requires a coordination mechanism that will make it possible to direct the proposals to the appropriate government authorities.

To this end, a working group has been set up by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ), the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation (MÉI) and the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) to coordinate actions, i.e. to receive projects that will yield concrete results, including in the short term (screening, treatment, organization of services, etc.), from Québec’s scientific community, in the health sciences, but also in natural sciences and engineering, social sciences and humanities, arts and letters.

If you have a project idea, please send it without delay to the Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec–Santé, Carole Jabet, at the following email address: Carole.Jabet@frq.gouv.qc.ca

Dr. Jabet will forward the proposals to the working group, which will analyze them and follow up with the appropriate government authorities. Certain projects will be given priority.
