Mission
The centre’s mission is to undertake interdisciplinary research in the broad area of music and sound and develop innovative approaches to the scientific study of music, media and technology. It promotes the application of newer technologies in science and the creative and performing arts, developing new tools for electroacoustic music and for sound recording and production facilities. An advanced research training environment is provided to develop a new generation of highly qualified scientific, technical and artistic interdisciplinarians in these fields. CIRMMT provides an internationally recognized crucible for the development of an interdisciplinary culture between artists and scientists and disseminates research through a variety of media. It forms partnerships with the public and para-public sectors in Quebec, Canada and internationally and fosters knowledge and technology transfer with industrial and commercial partners.
