In early 2017, the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) began a partnership with Adopte Inc., an initiative launched by Nicolas Duvernois (founder of PUR Vodka and Romeo’s gin), Anne Marcotte (successful entrepreneur) and Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien III (businessman and investor). Adopte Inc. works with a wide network of national partners who support the organization’s mission to help build a proud, innovative, engaged and prosperous Québec. The flagship activity of Adopte Inc. is the annual sponsorship of young entrepreneurs who are “adopted” by eminent entrepreneurial “adopters”. The FRQ have pledged to sponsor six “adoptees” each year, and to provide the chance for “adopters” from all industries in both the private and public sectors to share their experience during 12 professional coaching meetings. The six “adoptees” also receive an annual amount of $24,000. The names of the 2019 cohort members have been revealed at the Expo Entrepreneurs event, which was held on January 23 and 24, 2019 at Place Bonaventure in Montreal.
Beyond the sponsorship and financial support of the six “adoptees”, the FRQ work with various partners to organize training and events for the benefit of the 25 “adoptees”.
