Stages COI-UNESCO

Since 2015, the Québec Ministry of International Relations and the Francophonie offers two 26-week internships every year at UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission (IOC) in Paris as part of its International Government Organization Internship Program. This initiative, which came into being during a meeting between the Chief Scientist of Québec, Rémi Quirion, and the Executive Secretary of the IOC, Vladimir Ryabinin, provides two young Québec researchers with the opportunity to do an internship at the IOC, thus promoting the expertise of our new generation of scientists on issues relating to sustainable development and the management of oceans and coastal areas.

Building on its commitment establish its own maritime strategy, Québec intends to increase the international outreach of Québec research and expertise in the maritime field through this initiative. The internships are funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec and the successful candidates are supervised by program specialists from the IOC.
