Societal challenges
Over the past five years, the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) have made significant efforts, including a call on the scientific community by the Chief Scientist, to identify major intersectoral themes and mobilize players from all sectors in order to better meet society’s needs and, above all, to provide solutions that are appropriate to the Québec context. The FRQ will receive additional investments under the SQRI 2017-2022 (Québec strategy for research and innovation), which will allow them to roll out an unprecedented program of intersectoral research over the next few years to address three major challenges facing our society: demographic change and aging, climate change and sustainable development, and entrepreneurship and creativity.
